Helping the underprivileged with a mode of transport, an opportunity to work, a chance to live a dignified life!
Come join us and let us give some wheels together!
It all began with a single tweet from Mohammed Furniturewala, who wanted to donate his unused bicycle to someone who would use it for a living. Following that, Mohammed began interacting with members of his society.
Later, after interacting with other societies in Mumbai, he noticed something in common. Most societies had cycles lying around in dust. That’s when he came up with the idea for Donate a Cycle. He reasoned that he could bridge the gap between potential donors and users of the cycle. Users would be from underprivileged backgrounds who need a bicycle to get to school/college, for a living, or for women who simply want to get to work.
In a heartfelt initiative to support education and ease the daily struggles of young students, we recently donated bicycles to a village along the Khopoli-Pali road. This village is home to numerous students who previously had to walk nearly 2-3 hours just to reach their school, enduring harsh weather conditions and challenging terrain every day.
By providing these bicycles, the goal was to significantly reduce their travel time, ensuring they reach school faster, safer, and with more energy to focus on their studies. Education should never be a privilege—it should be a right, accessible to all without physical hardships becoming a barrier. Seeing the smiles on their faces and the joy of newfound convenience was truly rewarding.
This is just a small step towards empowering children and supporting their dreams. We hope to continue working on similar initiatives that help make education more accessible for students in remote areas.
Our goal is simple: people in the city don’t know what to do with their old bicycles, and there is a population that needs bicycles for daily commuting, going to school, and even starting a business; we are here to bridge this gap and help each other!
We currently have warehouses in two Mumbai locations: Bandra and Vashi. We will pick up the bicycle from your home or you can drop it off at any of our Mumbai warehouses. We collaborate with a few NGO’s in Mumbai and donate the cycles to someone who needs it for commuting to work, going to school, or starting a business (Deliveries).
You can also drop it to our warehouses in Bandra and Vashi. Also, we would be soon expanding it to other cities of India.
Inspect the bicycle's condition and do the necessary repairs before giving the bicycle to the person in need
Once the bicycle is ready, we connect with the NGO's to learn about the demand, verify it, and deliver the cycle to the person in need.
